good gun, although I would not recommend hunting with the pellets without a scope, hard to hit and humanely kill your target animal.
Also the shotshells do not seem that effective past 10yds, but I reloaded some with about 10 more #9 shot BB's and had a tighter pattern and better hunting ability.

I replaced the spring with a Crosman Nitro gas spring to shorten the lock time and increase the durability. A Charlie deTuna trigger was very easily added and corrected one of Gamo's notorious faults. This is an excellent 18ftlb gun that is well designed, solidly built and highly versatile. The above mods should be fairly easy for all but the most inept enthusiasts. My advice: Buy one while they are still available and don't forget to buy lots of shotshells. The Gamo team should be proud of conceiving and marketing this fine product.

I purchased the Gamo Viper Express Air Shotgun for the sole reason of dispatching water moccasins (cotton mouths) in the drainage ditch beside my home. Because it is a neighborhood, a traditional weapon would be too loud for the neighbors. The Viper Express takes the cotton mouths out with ease and unless the neighbors see me, they have no idea what I am up to. I did take out a squirrel once, but the main use is the snakes and this is a GREAT snake killer.
I do wish the shells were a litle cheaper and I worry that they will not be available forever so I have stocked up on them. But I would do more target shooting if the shell price was less.

Very well made and very high level of precision for a smooth bore firing Spitzer Head pellets as a reasonable range. The weight forward nature of the conical heads helps, no doubt, with accuracy.
Have begun reloads of the shot shells and have tightened up the shot pattern in my reloads over factory. Would like Gamo to consider selling empty shell cases, base cups and front wads for those of us who would like to experiment as well as save some money!

Fantastic air gun! If you only own one air gun, this should be it. Points naturally and has the power, in both shotshells and .22, to get the job done.

This is my favorite gun to shoot. It is not my most powerful airgun, nor the most accurate, it is simply the most fun! I love trying to hit targets accurately at 10 yards using the bead sight with .22 pellets. I am getting pretty good at it too. I also think that it is the perfect gun for starlings and house swallows at 10 yards. I would use it for squirrels and rabbits at 30 yards with a scope, in the winter season when A CO2 gun is ineffective.

I love the gun...easy to kill squirrels and birds at around 10-20 yds...if your gonna buy it I would recomend getting he red dot scope which will set you back another 100 dollars but if you usually use the red dot scope like I do then it makes shooting a heck of a lot easier. ***** 5 stars

the gun has enough power to get the job done. im a big time small game hunter and this guns ability to use the pellets and the shot shells is awsome. pellets for game out in the open, shells for game in tight places and for sky shots. the only problem was with the sights the gun comes equipt with. you really need a scope for this gun to be used to its full potential.

I just got this Air Rifle today, and I must say it is well-engineered and designed. Considering this is my first Air Rifle, it is quite a work of art. Just the right amount of weight in the trigger pull (nice & crisp), good overall weight for the Rifle itself (heavy is good). The design of the Viper is excellent, GAMO did not spare any expense at all. It is very sturdy and well built, no loose parts what so ever and just well constructed. I have only had roughly about 5 shots in it, but it is very accurate. But a little loud and hard to cock the first few times, but you'll get used to it. And it'll break in soon enough. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there are no good sights on it, the one's that come stock (just a ball at the tip of the barrel, and a slotted screw at the rear) so it's hard to aim at things. So right off the bat I'd recommend a scope for this Rifle. Other than those things, this Rifle is ready to go.

I put a very cheap 4x15 scope (Less than 10 dollars)on this gun just to see what it would do.... and was stunned at the results. I put a pellet in the 9 to 10 ring every time at 15 yards.
